Bishops Head 2011 Waipara Valley Riesling, Winemaking Notes:
Traditionally the last pick of the year the 2011 Riesling was hand harvested by the winery 'family' at our Mairehau Vineyard. The grapes were 'foot crushed' (see our facebook page) and left to fester for 24 hours before pressing to tank. Tank fermented at cool temperature (for over 3 months. Wild yeast ferment. on lees for 10 months before blending and bottling.
"It's nicely fruited on the nose showing ripe apple, citrus and floral notes. The palate is juicy and rounded with subtle sweetness (25 g/l) which is well balanced by the bright acidity. An immediately appealing riesling with potential to evolve further to show greater richness." Sam Kim, Wine Orbit, August 2012

Riesling is the perfect partner for asian dishes. Whether it's a spicy Thai dish or the more subtle and light Japanese tempura, the citris notes and bright acidity of the wine complement the full range of Asian flavours.
